DME 301
The DME 201, available since the 1990s, has reliably served numerous forestry professionals and others. It is now being upgraded to the DME 301, an advanced model equipped with cutting-edge electronics and innovative features.

The DME 301 retains all the capabilities of its predecessor, while also introducing the new T4 transponder with six LED indicators that blink during operation. It features a graphic display, provides signal readings, offers a BAF range from 0.0 to 999.9, and includes a “DIST” function to notify users
when a specified distance is exceeded.

Offers quick and accurate results

Thanks to its ultrasonic technology, the DME system provides fast and precise readings even in challenging environments with dense undergrowth.
Measure the distance between the DME 301 and a T4 transponder or using two DME 301’s. Communicates only with a transponder or another DME 301 so that there is no mistaking where the distance is measured from.

Pocket size and rugged

Useful in forest inventory, road construction, structural measurements, timber cruising and stakeouts. Get accurate distance readings in metric or Imperial units of up to 30m/98ft or more.

Ultrasound technology is effective in dense vegetation

The complete DME system includes the small and rugged DME 301 measuring instrument, a transponder T4 and plot staff/monopod with adapter. The monopod with transponder is placed in the plot center, allowing the user to measure and determine the plot radius.

MEASURE IN A FULL, 360° CIRCLE

The exact plot radius can be measured from any direction to the plot center when the T4 transponder is mounted on the monopod and the custom 360° adapter.

BAF (basal area factors)

Reverse Prism: Avoid many issues of traditional prism cruising, such as blocked views from the plot center.

The BAF function allows you to use the DME 301 on a sample point. By setting the desired BAF factor from 0.0 to 999.9, the DME 301 will then calculate the minimum diameter of a tree to be included in your sample point.

DIST

The “DIST” function notifies users when a predetermined distance limit is exceeded. This feature is particularly useful for inventorying circular sample plots where a fixed radius is applicable. The DME 301 emits an alert signal once the specified radius is surpassed.

DME – DME

The DME can also work in pair, with two DME 301 measuring instruments measuring the distance in between. This method is useful to maintain equal width for example in road construction work and when clearing along power lines.

T4 Transponder

T4 is the new and improved Transponder that replaces the T3 and all previous transponders.

T4 is equipped with six built-in LEDs that provide essential information:

  • Instantly know if T4 is active and responsive with your measuring instrument.
  • Identify any disruptive noises for accurate measurements.
  • Experience the convenience of T4's new housing features:
  • Extended battery space for all brands of 1.5V batteries (AA).
