    Height

3-point, 2-point or 1-point or direct measuring – choose preferred method to work with in the easy-to-follow menu system.

    3D Vector

The 3D Vector function enables the measurement of distant targets, including horizontal distances and angles between two points in the terrain, like canopy width or river width.

    Map Trail

Map a route through a forest, for example.

    Map Target

The MAP TARGET function is valuable for 3D mapping of different large targets, such as gravel or wood chip piles. Additionally, Map Target can be utilized to determine the area of extensive surfaces, like clear-cuts, golf courses, and more.

    Line Clear

The Line Clear (Line Clearance/Hazard trees) function is employed to determine if, for instance, a tree that could topple during a storm or is planned to be cut down might fall onto a power line, house, or similar structure.

    Min Dist

You can use the MIN. DIST. (Minimum distance) function to find the smallest distance from a tree branch or top to a power line. It’s especially handy when measuring is tough due to vegetation and terrain profile, making it hard to aim and get the shortest distance accurately.

    Angle

Angle measurement can be used to measure e.g. slopes, roads etc.

    Compass

The integrated tri-axial compass allows you to measure azimuth/compass direction across 360° with a resolution of 0.1° and an accuracy of 1.5° RMSE.

    GPS - Mapping

The Geo 2 comes equipped with an internal GPS featuring a high-sensitivity 33-channel receiver that supports multiple common satellite systems, including GPS, Glonass, Galileo, and GZSS. This allows your measurement data to be tagged with coordinates.

Additionally, you can use an external Bluetooth GPS receiver, such as the Geode or Trimble R1, to achieve accuracy of less than one meter.

    Delta HGT

The Delta Height function is employed to calculate the height disparity between a specific point on an imaginary straight line connecting two fixed locations and a third point, such as a power line, especially where the line sag is nearest to the ground.

    Remote Diameter

The new Remote Diameter feature allows you to measure or locate a specific diameter from a distance and at any height. Simply rotate the instrument 90 degrees and align the sight with the diameter.

    • However, users can also download, install, and run additional apps to access specific functions not included in the standard app. It is possible to switch between installed apps in the field at any time.
    • We also develop custom apps based on your requirements. Contact us, and we will be happy to assist you.

    Features

The VERTEX LASER GEO and LASER GEO with unique capabilities will allow you to measure, map, process and store forest and field data in a way you didn’t think was possible! Long range measurement with high precision laser and integrated tilt- and compass sensors for accurate 3D measurements. Results are presented in an integrated heads-up display and external, graphic display.

    Tree heights

Select from 3-point, 2-point, or 1-point measurement modes, or use direct measuring by navigating through the user-friendly menu system. The non-magnifying dot sight assists in pinpointing specific targets like tree tops and power lines.

Additionally, with the Vertex Laser Geo 2, you have the option to use Ultrasound for measuring distances in areas with dense vegetation and heavy undergrowth.

    Map Target

Use built in GPS to walk and log an area.

Or stand in the middle of the area and use the built in GPS, Compass, Laser and measure the points on the border of the area.

See results directly in Google Earth or other similar geographic applications.

    GPS and Mapping

The built-in GPS receiver allows you to tag data with coordinates with the push of a button. Data is stored on a built-in SSD memory and is available for further processing via a standard USB connection to any PC or Apple computer. Files can be opened directly in your favorite GIS or spreadsheet application. Complex operations such as area measurement, 3D target mapping, and trail mapping have builtin capabilities.

The 3D vector function allows you to measure remote targets such as canopy width. The instrument can also connect to an external Bluetooth GPS and use its coordinates for better accuracy.

    • The receiver is a 33-channel high sensitivity receiver.
    • Supports: GPS, Glonass, Galileo, QZSS.
    • Built-in real tme correction w SBAS (EGNOS, WAAS, MSAS, GAGAN) Accuracy down to 2.5m/8.19ft in open terrain.

    HOW TO CALIBRATE THE COMPASS

    3D Vector

The 3D Vector function allows you to measure remote targets such horizontal distances and angles between two points far ahead in the terrain such as canopy width or width of a river.

    MAP Trail

The MAP TRAIL feature allows you to gather target coordinates logically using the laser method, pitch, and azimuth data. It’s useful for mapping routes or roads where GPS isn’t precise, or for planning a forest cableway system. The instrument’s built-in compass continuously shows direction, guiding you to hit a target accurately.

    Line Clearance

    Hazard trees

    Line Clearance function.

    1. Measure on the wire
    2. Measure the tree height
    3. The unit calculates if the tree will fall on the wire or not.
    4. The unit calculates and present how much the tree will hit the the line or how much will go under the li

    MIN. DIST.

    Minimum Distance

The MIN. DIST. function can calculate the shortest distance from, for example, a tree branch to a power line. This function is particularly useful when measuring is challenging due to vegetation and terrain profile, making it hard to determine where to aim on the power line for an accurate measurement

    Sample plots or points

    Sample plots

When using ultrasound and the center plot stick with the 360˚ adapter in the center of a sample plot, you can easily measure the distance and check if the trees on the plot are within the correct radius to be measured.

    Sample points

Reverse Prism: Avoid many issues of traditional prism cruising, such as blocked views from the plot center.

The BAF function allows you to use the Vertex Laser Geo 2 on a sample plot. By setting the desired BAF factor from 0.0 to 999.9, the Vertex Laser Geo 2 will then calculate the minimum diameter of a tree to be included in your sample plot.

BAF factor range: 0.0 to 999.9 (ha or acre)

Vertex Laser Geo 2 can be used in dense vegetation and undergrowth when usig ultrasound

    3D Pile - Application

Get more out of your Laser Geo 2 or Vertex Laser Geo 2 with the 3D Pile App.

Perfect for Log and Stockpile inventory

With the 3D Pile app on your Laser Geo 2 or Vertex Laser Geo 2, you can easily measure the volume of any uneven stockpile or log piles.

This all-in-one system lets you do the whole job by yourself without needing any other tools or systems.

    Features

    • Inventory and volume estimation of log piles
    • Inventory and volume estimation of irregular piles of different materials.
    • One person can perform the entire process
    • Obtain field data with high accuracy and precision
    • Store data directly in the instrument
    • Avoid walking and climbing in hazardous areas

    3D Pile Application Workflow

    Log Pile Volume

The Log pile can be divided into several sections during measurement. The sum of the sections is then the total length of the pile. Measure and record pile width, range and wood volume factor for each section. The volume is calculated by section number, number of heights, calculated average height, and volume for each section. The result includes the calculated average width of each section, the calculated average height of all measuring points, and the default wood volume factor for each section.

    Woodchip or gravel piles

The 3D PILE software is useful for measuring different types of piles and rollers. Measure the pile from different sides to create a three-dimensional image of the object. The instrument saves heights and coordinates for all measurement points. Data is stored in (csv) and (kml) formats and can be opened directly in Google Earth! The instrument can also be used to calculate 2D areas (area), such as clearcuts, industrial sites or the inside of a building.

Do you currently have a Geo 2 instrument?

If you possess a Laser Geo 2 or Vertex Laser Geo 2, you can download and purchase the 3D Pile application.

Install it on your Geo 2 to begin your work!

The 3D Pile app is accessible through the Haglof Applications Cloud website.
